PLYMOUTH CITY FC: BRANDING A
FICTIONAL FOOTBALL CLUB

  • THE PROJECT

    This project focuses on the creation of Plymouth City FC, a fictional football club designed as a believable local rival to Plymouth Argyle. The aim was to build a club identity that felt authentic, Steeped in the culture and character of Britain’'s Ocean City, while still standing apart with its own story, visual style and personality.

    The project covers every major part of the club’s identity, including the crest, typography, colour palette, kit designs, signage, merchandise and stadium branding. Alongside this, a range of supporting mockups and visuals were created to show how the brand would exist across matchdays, social media, retail and the wider fan experience.

    A strong focus was placed on realism and attention to detail throughout, making sure every detail felt as though it could belong to a genuine football club. From the club’s name and rivalry to the much finer details, the goal was to create a complete and cohesive identity that feels convincing both visually and conceptually.

  • ABOUT THE CLUB

    Plymouth City FC is a proud and historic club based on the Devon coast, known for its fierce rivalry with neighbours Plymouth Argyle. PCFC are nicknamed ‘The Mariners’ in honour of the city’s rich naval heritage.

    They play their home games at Oceanview Park, a modern stadium with sweeping views of the English Channel, and a cauldron of noise on match days. PCFC compete in the second division of English football, the EFL Championship.
